IMPACT
Positively impacting the lives and potential of our Littles and our families is our primary objective. We are proud of the improvements mentoring makes in a Little’s life, and our confidence in the strength and uniqueness of our programming comes from a proven research, our decades-long embeddedness in the community, and the personal experiences of our youth. We are proud of our 2024 Academic Year Outcomes:
Hispanic and Black youth are three times more likely than White youth to have repeated a grade of primary school, which research indicates leads to greater likelihood of dropping out, poor social adjustment, and more behavior problems (Child Trends).
In 2018, Black and Hispanic students in NYC graduated from high school at a rate of 72.1% and 70% respectively, compared to 84.2% among White students. (Chalkbeat Education News).
In 2017, college enrollment rates for Black and Hispanic students was 53.1% and 51.2%, respectively, compared to 8% for White students and 77.4% for Asian students. (NYU Steinhardt).
Each year, 17,000 NYC youth between ages 15-19 become pregnant. (Citizens Committee for Children).
